Lydia had her 1st grade program. We did it smart this year... Luckily they do the program at 3 different times. Brett and I took turns staying home with Jake so the other one could enjoy it without having to chase Jake around. Lydia did so good and it was really cute. Thanks Mom, Unkie, Mikayla, Brett and Evie for all going. Lydia with her teacher!

A few weeks ago I took the kids to get hair cuts. Lydia decided not to do anything... not even a trim. Jake got his long hair cut high and tight (see pics below). Evie wanted her hair short with bangs. I talked her into going a little longer then she wanted (we have lots of pony tail days) but I couldn't talk her out of bangs. She looks cute and it's crazy how much a cut can change your whole look.
I feel so bad some times that I get so caught up in the routine of everyday life that I forget I have a 2 year old loaded with energy that needs to be burned off. I have been to the Dinasour Museum probably 10 times and I decided to take Jake for his first time. I wasn't super excited about going... been there... done that, but I saw it with new eyes today... a 2 year olds eyes. I watched as he got so excited about every little thing and how new it was to him. He really made it a great day!
Jakes eyes lit up as soon as we pulled in to the parking lot. He just kept saying, "BIG MOMMY... BIG"!

At first Jake was timid putting his hands in the water and sand but that all changed quickly. See how he's holding 5 little dinasours in his right hand... yeah... he didn't want to share. Don't tell anyone and I'm not sure how it happened but when I loaded the stroller one of those Dinasours made it's way home with us. Ooooppppssss!!!!
This was my late attempt to make a St. Patty's Day dinner. These are the same mashed potatoes I make everytime just with food coloring and Lydia wouldn't touch it cause it was green. Oh well... good try mom!I am so excited for Spring to be here. I am done with the snow and I am ready to play outside with the kids and see green and flowers. I love Spring! Here is just a little about what we have been doing.
Evie and Lydia have spelling tests every week. We practice during the week and Evie can write her words down in order without you telling them to her. Guess what... Evie missed her first word so far this year. I thought we were going to make it all year without missing a word. Good job Evie!
Lydia is working so hard to get the Mustang Award given to 1st graders. They have to pass off a couple things to get the award. One of the things is jump rope 15 times in a row. She came home from school and practiced for hours. She learned quick and now jump ropes all the time. I love this picture of her.
And Jake loves being outside... nothing has changed with winter. Now, he loves to walk the dog. Phoebe does pretty good with him tugging and pulling on her. I cut Jakes hair... I was growing it long but Daddy's likes it short and Jake is his little boy so Daddy wins.
It's a good thing he is running her... after all he is the one that feeds the dog all the time, making her super fat. Sorry Phoebe... it's time to shed those winter pounds. WELCOME SPRING!!!!
One thing I love is MOVIES. I love going to the movies, I love renting movies, I love watching movies on TV. I like all kinds of movies. The only movies I tend to get bored with are sci-fi and western. I stay up on the awards for the year and try to watch all the movies that were nominated. Here are the Oscar nominees for best picture.
Black Swan(R)- This is not a ballet film. This is a horror type movie. I loved it. Natalie Portman does an amazing job. She earned best actress for sure. You have to be okay with some girl lesbian action to see this movie.
The Fighter(R)- Everyone should see this film. Amazing movie. I don't usually like boxing movies but loved this one (maybe because it's based on a true story). And maybe because it has Marky Mark in it with his shirt off most of the time. Love the totally 80's clothes and the sisters are so funny. I think this movie should have won best picture.
Inception(PG-13)- Great movie. I love Leonardo DeCaprio everything he does is good. Pretty clever story.
The Kids Are All Right(R)- Haven't seen it but I am looking forward to.
The King's Speech(PG-13) - Haven't seen it but have only heard really great things about it. I am excited to see this one.
127 Hours(R)- Just watched this one a few days ago. Amazing film, James Franco does a really great job. I love these "based on true stories" type films. I sit and think what would I do in this situation. I would have given up in this case that's for sure. What an amazing man and what he had to have been feeling to finally make his decision (I wont spoil it for those who haven't seen it). Really bloody and graphic... I had to close my eyes.
The Social Network(PG-13)- Anyone who has a facebook account should see this movie. I liked this movie, Jesse Eisenberg does a great job in this movie and of course it has my second love in it (Justin Timberlake). That was enough for me to enjoy it.
Toy Story 3(G)- Own it, seen it at least 100 times thanks to Jake. I liked it, pretty clever but I have to admit... I am getting a little tired of Toy Story. In my opinion... this movie shouldn't have been in the best movie of the year catagory. It just felt like the same old thing and to me didn't offer anything new. It was good but when compared to these other movies it falls short.
True Grit(PG-13)- I haven't seen this one. I am going to but it's not high on my list... I think it's the whole Western thing that's holding me back a little.
Winter's Bone(R)- Haven't seen this one either but I want to sounds good.
Netflix recommended a film for me. It's called, The Stoning of Soraya M. It's a really good movie. Lots of subtitles which can make me tired at night. This is based on a true story and is also a book. This movie is set in modern day Iran in a remote village. Soraya is wrongfully accused of infedelity and is sentenced to death by stoning.
