Wax Museum

The 2nd graders at Evie's school had a wax museum. Every child was to pick someone famous past or present. They were to dress up like the person they picked and make a poster with pictures and facts. The parents got to go around and push red buttons and the student would come alive and tell who they were and give facts about that person. So when Evie first told me about the project this is how the conversation went.
Me: "That sounds fun. Who are you thinking you want to be?"
Evie: "Lady Gaga?"
Me: "Ummmm... no pick someone else."
Evie: "Britney Spears?"
Me: "Nope someone else."
Evie: "Taylor Swift?"
Me: "Evie are you understanding the meaning of this project? I don't think you are suppose to be a pop-star."
Evie: "Yeah... Mom there are lots of girls being pop-stars."
She was right... there were lots of pop stars and we could have done that and been fine but I wanted her to pick some one who has made a difference or someone who is inspirational. We talked about a few people and Evie finally picked.

Bethany Hamilton!!! I took the girls to see Soul Surfer (the movie about Bethany) and they loved it. If you haven't seen it... you should.
Here is Evie at my mom's after school. I went to the wax museum at 9:30 am and the kids were done and in class. It was from 8:45 to 9:30... I missed the whole thing. I wont ever tell who gave me the wrong information. I am proud of Evie for doing something different. As I walked to Evie's class to say hi, I had teachers telling me what a great idea it was and that Evie did so good and it was nice to see something different. YAY... to my smart little girl. And a big YAY to Bethany Hamilton for being such an amazing example to young kids and everyone.

RRR MOAB!!!

My friend Nanette talked me into doing the RedRock Relay in Moab. Audrey and I were going to do it but Audrey didn't feel like she trained well enough to go so Nick decided to take her place. Truth is I didn't train either but I did okay. My Mom, Dad, Audrey, Josh and Aaron came down to support us and it was so great to have family there cheering us on. We also had an amazing team that was so supportive and so awesome. I took a ton of pictures but had to pick my favorites. The first runners had to sport these safety vests... Nanette and I trying to make these vests look fashionable.
My whole amazing team. Rob, Janelle, Nanette, Me, Darrin and Nick. I was first to run and we had a start time of 6:00 am.

In the middle of my run... taking a second for a photo.

Finished my run and take some photo shots and cheering on the next runner!

Some good friend loves!
Nanette hates these bathrooms. Had to take a photo of her coming out of the bathroom... hilarious!

This is me on my second run. Uphill, I mean serious uphill 2.75 miles with the wind blowing at me at probably 50 mph. I was done... Nanette had to push me. Did I mention how amazing my team was.

More photo shots. Loved the scenery on these runs.

Darrin and Rob shaved mohawks for the race. Awwwhhhh... what a cute couple.

I was so tired after my second run... I crawled across the exchange. Not really but my muscle spasmed and I couldn't walk anymore. Thanks again to such an amazing team that knew exactly what to do.

My leg feeling better and done with all the running and a little twin love and I'm just fine.

Nick and I proud to show our stripes and so glad to be done.

The whole team... done and 2 hours earlier then what we thought. Yay... freaking awesome team.

And this is the kind of dinner you reward yourself with after all that calorie burning. YUUUMMMYYYY!!!

Me and my medal and the feeling of just being done and accomplishig something I haven't done before. Thanks to the support of my family and my amazing team. Love you all!

See you next year RRR MOAB!!!

My Nanny

I miss my Nanny (my mom's mom). I have been thinking alot about her lately. She has been gone for 8 years and it's hard to believe it's been that long and I still miss her so much. Occasionally I will get a craving for one of my favorite things. I have been craving these black liquorice candies. This use to be one of my Nanny's favorite candies, which would explain why I have missed her so much lately. Whenever is see this candy I think of her. I have had hard time finding them and was so excited when I did.
Everytime I eat one of these candies I will think of you Nanny and how much I love and miss you dearly! Until we meet again!

Easter Fun!

I love Easter! Yummy food... easter baskets... chocolate bunnies for breakfast... easter egg hunts... family and a new little easter surprise... read on to find out.
My mom cheering on Evie during the East egg hunt. Look at how skinny she is!

Lydia stopping to do a diva pose for me really quick.

Jake really got into finding his blue eggs.

This year we did a Pinata (new for us). The kids had so much fun hitting it. In this Pinata was not only candy but a small egg that said Papa & Nana on it. Inside was a note saying the Easter bunny brought something new this year. Guess who is having a baby... (here is the surprise).

Nick and Lu are going to have a baby... Yeah... I am so freaking excited! I can't wait to see this little bundle of joy!
One of my favorite Easter eatings... Nana's pickled eggs... so yummy and pretty!

We have finally been able to talk my mom into paper and plastic for family dinners. Cleaning up after 24 people every Sunday is alot of work. Simplify...

Jake wasn't into his Easter basket too much... He wanted the girls baskets... which is so crazy because the Easter bunny brought them all the same thing.

Evie with her Easter basket and chocolate bunny!
